The botanical side of the British Empire'

Every tree, flower and plant from all corners of the globe can be found somewhere in the 120 hectares that is Kew Gardens. Developed in the full-swing of the British Empire, 18th century botanists collected specimens and conducted research on a multitude of plant life. The Gardens are still an important centre of horticultural research to this day. Some of the buildings that house the trees and flowers are stunning, such as the huge glass constructions of the Palm and Temperate Houses. A fascinating and enchanting day out.
